Subject: Ida Arimurti mengasihi tanpa mengatakan sesuatu'
Saya ditraktir makan mie di kedai mie yang terkenal. Harganya tidak
mahal dan rasanya sangat lezat sekali. Kami duduk di depan meja panjang yang
dapat menampung sekitar sepuluh orang bila mengelilingi meja. Meja
sudah terisi enam orang, saya, teman saya dan empat orang pengunjung.
Ketika asyik makan, satu keluarga baru duduk di dekat kami. Tepatnya
di antara teman saya dan pengunjung lainnya. Mereka telah memesan mie dan
sedang menunggu. Keluarga tersebut terdiri dari sepasang suami istri
yang masih muda dan seorang anak yang berusia sekitar enam tahun. Mereka
keluarga yang jauh dari sederhana. Pakaiannya agak kusam dan berbau.
Si anak kelihatannya baru sembuh dari suatu penyakit yang tidak kami
ketahui dan sedang menarik ingusnya keluar masuk. Ingusnya seperti angka
sebelas dan terkadang seperti angka satu dengan warna kuning kehijau-hijauan.
Si ibu dengan penuh kasih sayang mengelap ingus yang tidak berhenti
keluar masuk hidung anaknya. Pasangan itu sangat bahagia melihat anaknya
bermain sambil tertawa. Sepertinya makan mie merupakan perayaan menyambut
kesembuhannya. Saat mie datang keluarga tersebut makan dengan lahap.
Keadaan tersebut tidak berlaku bagi kami semua terkecuali teman saya.
Bagi kami berlima (termasuk saya) keadaan tersebut merupakan bencana dan
penyiksaan. Bayangkan aja, bagaimana rasanya makan mie dengan mencium
satu keluarga yang bau badannya tidak enak. Belum lagi melihat dan
mendengar ingus yang ditarik keluar masuk dan sesekali dibersihkan oleh ibunya.
Setiap kali memakan mie sambil meminum kuahnya, rasanya seperti ingus
telah tercampur dengan makanan dan membuat selera makan hilang. Tidak
berapa lama kemudian, keempat pelanggan yang duduk semeja dengan kami
meninggalkan meja satu persatu- tanpa menghabiskan makanan. Melihat
ini ada rasa kepahitan yang terpancar diwajah keluarga muda itu, seperti
rasa rendah diri dan terasing melihat sikap saya dan empat pengunjung
lainnya.
Tetapi itu tidak berlangsung lama, terutama saat mereka melihat teman
saya, keceriaan mereka pulih kembali. Teman saya tetap menikmati mie
dengan segala kecuekannya. Seolah-olah tidak ada bau disekitarnya dan
tidak ada suara ingus yang didengar. Saya tidak bisa berbuat banyak
selain belajar cuek dan menghabiskan sisa mie. Lagi pula saya ditraktir makan
dan tidak berhak mengajukan hal-hal yang aneh-aneh dan tidak sopan.
Selesai makan, kami masih duduk dua puluh menit sebelum meninggalkan kedai
makanan. Saya heran dengan tingkah teman saya yang diluar kebiasaannya.
Biasanya setelah makan, ia hanya duduk paling lama sepuluh menit.
Sekali lagi saya harus mengikuti kemauan teman saya dengan jengkel.
Akhirnya kami keluar meninggalkan kedai dan keluarga muda, saya merasa
lega. Dalam perjalanan pulang, teman saya mengatakan ia sangat
terganggu duduk di samping keluarga tersebut. Ia merasakan rasa bau dan merasa
terganggu dengan suara ingus anaknya. Ia merasakan tepat seperti yang
saya rasakan.
Teman saya juga mengatakan, jika ia meninggalkan keluarga tersebut di
saat mereka bergembira, keluarga itu akan merasa terpukul, tidak berharga,
terasing dan putus asa. Si suami sedang memberi yang terbaik bagi
keluarganya. Mereka bersukacita merayakan kesembuhan anaknya. Si suami
telah mengeluarkan uang yang bagi mereka cukup mahal dari hasil kerja
keras hanya untuk memberikan yang terbaik bagi keluarganya. Uang itu
tidak begitu banyak untuk ukuran kami tetapi tidak bagi keluarga itu.
Saya sangat terkejut mendengar penuturan teman saya. Dan tidak
menyangka teman saya telah melakukan sesuatu yang luar biasa bagi keluarga itu.
Dengan caranya yang khas, bertahan makan mie sampai habis dan menunggu
dua puluh menit setelah makan, telah memberi semangat baru bagi keluarga
itu.
Saya teringat bagaimana rasa kepahitan, rendah diri dan terasing di
wajah kedua suami istri ketika melihat pelanggan yang lain meninggalkan meja
tanpa menghabiskan makanan dan melihat tingkah saya. Saya juga
teringat bagaimana pasangan ini kembali ceria begitu melihat sikap teman saya
yang cuek.
Pertama kali dalam hidup ini, saya menyadari dan menyaksikan bagaimana
mengasihi sesama tanpa mengatakan sesuatu benar-benar tidak mustahil.
Ini benar-benar keajaiban. Ajaib bagaimana semua ayat-ayat di dalam
Alkitab tentang mengasihi sesama dapat diwujudkan tanpa perkataan dalam waktu
sesingkat itu. Cukup hanya dengan meneruskan makan mie sampai habis.
Masa bodoh dengan sikap saya dan pengunjung lain yang tidak terpuji.
Menunggu dua puluh menit setelah selesai makan. Yang terakhir menahan rasa bau
untuk menyempurnakan segalanya telah menunjukkan suatu keajaiban kasih
dan dilakukan oleh seorang teman. Ajaib bagaimana teman saya menegor saya
tanpa mengatakan sesuatu. Ia tidak menuduh tetapi cukup telak memukul
saya. Saya merasa sangat terpukul, malu tetapi tidak marah. Saya
kembali mengingatkan diri sendiri bagaimana mudahnya mengatakan mengasihi
sesame tetapi tidak melakukannya.

Filosofi Pensil

"Setiap orang membuat kesalahan. Itulah sebabnya, pada setiap pensil
ada penghapusnya" (Pepatah Jepang)
Kali ini saya ingin menceritakan kepada Anda sebuah kisah penuh
hikmah dari sebatang pensil. Dikisahkan, sebuah pensil akan segera
dibungkus dan dijual ke pasar. Oleh pembuatnya, pensil itu
dinasihati mengenai tugas yang akan diembannya. Maka, beberapa
wejangan pun diberikan kepada si pensil. Inilah yang dikatakan oleh
si pembuat pensil tersebut kepada pensilnya.
"Wahai pensil, tugasmu yang pertama dan utama adalah membantu orang
sehingga memudahkan mereka menulis. Kamu boleh melakukan fungsi apa
pun, tapi tugas utamamu adalah sebagai alat penulis. Kalau kamu
gagal berfungsi sebagai alat tulis. Macet, rusak, maka tugas utamamu
gagal."
"Kedua, agar dirimu bisa berfungsi dengan sempurna, kamu akan
mengalami proses penajaman. Memang meyakitkan, tapi itulah yang akan
membuat dirimu menjadi berguna dan berfungsi optimal".
"Ketiga, yang penting bukanlah yang ada di luar dirimu. Yang
penting, yang utama dan yang paling berguna adalah yang ada di dalam
dirimu. Itulah yang membuat dirimu berharga dan berguna bagi
manusia".
"Keempat, kamu tidak bisa berfungsi sendirian. Agar bisa berguna dan
bermanfaat, maka kamu harus membiarkan dirimu bekerja sama dengan
manusia yang menggunakanmu".
"Kelima. Di saat-saat terakhir, apa yang telah engkau hasilkan
itulah yang menunjukkan seberapa hebatnya dirimu yang sesungguhnya.
Bukanlah pensil utuh yang dianggap berhasil, melainkan pensil-pensil
yang telah membantu menghasilkan karya terbaik, yang berfungsi
hingga potongan terpendek. Itulah yang sebenarnya paling mencapai
tujuanmu dibuat".
Sejak itulah, pensil-pensil itu pun masuk ke dalam kotaknya,
dibungkus, dikemas, dan dijual ke pasar bagi para manusia yang
membutuhkannya.
Pembaca, pensil-pensil ini pun mengingatkan kita mengenai tujuan dan
misi kita berada di dunia ini. Saya pun percaya bahwa bukanlah tanpa
sebab kita berada dan diciptakan ataupun dilahirkan di dunia ini.
Yang jelas, ada sebuah purpose dalam diri kita yang perlu untuk
digenapi dan diselesaikan.
Sama seperti pensil itu, begitu pulalah diri kita yang berada di
dunia ini. Apa pun profesinya, saya yakin kesadaran kita mengenai
tujuan dan panggilan hidup kita, akan membuat hidup kita menjadi
semakin bermakna.
Hilang arah
Tidak mengherankan jika Victor Frankl yang memopulerkan Logoterapi,
yang dia sendiri pernah disiksa oleh Nazi, mengemukakan "tujuan
hidup yang jelas, membuat orang punya harapan serta tidak mengakhiri
hidupnya". Itulah sebabnya, tak mengherankan jika dikatakan bahwa
salah satu penyebab terbesar dari angka bunuh diri adalah kehilangan
arah ataupun tujuan hidup. Maka, dari filosofi pensil di atas kita
belajar mengenai lima hal penting dalam kehidupan.
Pertama, hidup harus punya tujuan yang pasti. Apapun kerja, profesi
atau pun peran yang kita mainkan di dunia ini, kita harus berdaya
guna. Jika tidak, maka sia-sialah tujuan diri kita diciptakan.
Celakanya, kita lahir tanpa sebuah instruksi ataupun buku manual
yang menjelaskan untuk apakah kita hadir di dunia ini. Pencarian
akan tujuan dan panggilan kita, menjadi tema penting selama kita
hidup di dunia.
Yang jelas, kehidupan kita dimaknakan untuk menjadi berguna dan
bermanfaat serta positif bagi orang-orang di sekitar kita, minimal
untuk orang-orang terdekat. Jika tidak demikian, maka kita useless.
Tidak ada gunanya. Sama seperti sebatang pensil yang tidak bisa
dipakai menulis, maka ia tidaklah berguna sama sekali.
Kedua, akan terjadi proses penajaman sehingga kita bisa berguna
optimal, oleh karena itulah, sering terjadi kesulitan, hambatan
ataupun tantangan. Semuanya berguna dan bermanfaat sehingga kita
selalu belajar darinya untuk menjadi lebih baik. Ingat kembali soal
Lee Iacocca, salah satu eksekutif yang justru menjadi besar dan
terkenal, setelah dia didepak keluar dari mobil Ford. Pengalaman itu
justru menjadi pemacu semangat baginya untuk berhasil di Chrysler.
Ingat pula, Donald Trump yang sempat diguncang masalah finansial dan
nyaris bangkrut. Namun, kebangkrutannya itulah yang justru menjadi
pelajaran dan motivasi baginya untuk sukses lebih langgeng. Kadang
penajaman itu 'sakit'. Namun, itulah yang justru akan memberikan
kesempatan kita mengeluarkan yang terbaik.
Ketiga, bagian internal diri kitalah yang akan berperan. Saya sering
menyaksikan banyak artis, ataupun bintang film yang terkenal, justru
yang hebat bukanlah karena mereka paling cantik ataupun paling
tampan. Tetapi, kemampuan dalam diri mereka, filosofi serta semangat
merekalah yang membuat mereka menjadi luar biasa. Demikian pula pada
diri kita. Pada akhirnya, apa yang ada di dalam diri kita seperti
karakter, kemampuan, bakat, motivasi, semangat, pola pikir itulah
yang akan lebih berdampak daripada tampilan luar diri kita.
Keempat, pensil pun mengajarkan agar bisa berfungsi sempurna kita
harus belajar bekerja sama dengan orang lain. Bayangkanlah seorang
aktor atau aktris yang tidak mau diatur sutradaranya. Bayangkan
seorang anak buah yang tidak mau diatur atasannya. Ataupun seorang
service provider yang tidak mau diatur oleh pelanggannya. Mereka
semua tidak akan berfungsi sempurna. Agar berhasil, kadang kita
harus belajar dari pensil untuk 'tunduk' dan membiarkan diri kita
berubah menjadi alat yang sempurna dengan belajar dan mendengar dari
ahlinya. Itulah sebabnya, kemampuan untuk belajar bekerja sama
dengan orang lain, mendengarkan orang lain, belajar dari 'guru' yang
lebih tahu adalah sesuatu yang membuat kita menjadi lebih baik.
Terakhir, pensil pun mengajarkan kita meninggalkan warisan yang
berharga melalui karya-karya yang kita tinggalkan. Tugas kita bukan
kembali dalam kondisi utuh dan sempurna, melainkan menjadikan diri
kita berarti dan berharga. Itulah filosofi 'memberi dan melayani'.
Yang penting, hingga pada akhir kehidupan kita ada karya ataupun
hasil berharga yang mampu kita tinggalkan.....
